Drabble: The Birthday Gift

When she missed someone, she found solace in a ride. And, lately, she sighed, she was missing a lot of good friends.
She found comfort, too, in those who were with her, and never discounted them, not for one moment. Not feeling well, she hoped the honey-peach sun and turquoise waters of Booty Bay would make her float. She was knotted up, feeling awful.  Matty gave herself this birthday gift, wrapped up, and presented with little ceremony.
“How do you do, Sir Hawk?”

He did not answer, but made it clear he would take her wherever she wanted to go.
